Individual Recognition and Business Recognition Awards
- Northeast Leadership Grant Sponsored by TEXTILEASE-MEDIQUE: Click here for more information
- Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI): Encourages AAOHN members at the grassroots level to learn more about the legislative/regulatory process by attending the Nurse in Washington Internship sponsored by the National Federation for Specialty Nursing Organizations.
- ACOEM/AAOHN Joint Research: Recognizes joint research projects conducted by collaborative research teams of nurses and physicians for the purpose of improving the knowledge base of occupational and environmental health.
- Innovations in Occupational Health: Recognizes individual occupational health nurses or occupational health nurse teams with innovative ideas to improve the delivery of occupational health care services. Jointly sponsored by AAOHN and ABOHN and funded by Hummer Whole Health Management.
- AAOHN Fellowship: (Nomination deadline: October 1st); Recognizes occupational and environmental health nursing leaders and AAOHN members who demonstrate outstanding accomplishments through significant contributions to the field through research. This award honors scholarly work which has resulted in a recognized contribution to the knowledge base of occupational and environmental health nursing in the areas of clinical practice, education, research, management, or policy.
- Mary Louise Brown Research Recognition: (Nomination deadline: September 1st); Recognizes occupational and environmental health nurses who have contributed significantly to the advancement of occupational and environmental health nursing or the occupational and environmental health field through research. This award honors scholarly work that has resulted in a recognized contribution to the knowledge base of occupational and environmental health nursing.
- AAOHN Business Recognition: Recognizes small and large businesses that support and promote the occupational and environmental health nursing profession.
Chapter Awards
- Chapter of the Year: Recognizes AAOHN state chapters with strong association programs in membership, education and training, professional and community involvement, governmental involvement, goals and objectives, public affairs, and networking. Categories: (1) less than 50 members, (2) more than 50 -day members.
- Chapter State Governmental Affairs: Recognizes AAOHN state chapter governmental affairs activities, with either a legislative or regulatory focus, that effectively influence health policy as it relates to the practice of occupational and environmental health nursing. Categories: (1) Best overall Program, (2) Single-issue Campaign.
- Chapter Communications: Recognizes both small and large AAOHN chapters that enhance programs through communications media (e.g. newsletter, Web site home page, e-mail announcements, etc.) Categories: (1) less than 50 members, (2) more than 50 -day members.
- Chapter Public Service: Recognizes the contributions of an AAOHN chapter in promoting a society of health individuals and communities through volunteer efforts and increasing the visibility and recognition of occupational and environmental health nursing.
- Dorothy M. Saller Membership: Recognizes an AAOHN chapter's innovative membership recruitment and retention efforts.
- Chapter Education: Recognizes quality, ongoing professional development for occupational and environmental health nursing offered by AAOHN chapters. Categories: (1) Best Short Educational Activity, (2) Best One-day Educational Activity, (3) Best Multi-day Educational Activity.
