2007 GBAOHN Annual Report

 

Presented at the Annual Meeting on January 15, 2008 

The Annual Report for activities for GBAOHN for 2008 will be very brief.  We have nothing to vote on as a membership.  As you know we voted on some changes to our by-laws last year to be in compliance with AAOHN’s requirements.  At that time, we also reducing the size of the Board by eliminating 2 director positions.

Our membership now stands at approximately 80 members.

The results of the election are as follows:
Joanna Krazanski, Nominating Committee, Anne Fitzgerald, Director, Richard Haugen, Nominating Committee, Pam Quinlan, Director, Helen Williams, Secretary, Barbara Roller, Treasurrer

The members who have committed to one more year of service are:.  Terry Donahue, Director, Pam Hixon, Director, Pat Schnindler, Nominating Committee.  Penny Clark will continue to serve as Vice President for this year and Jeanne Donahue will continue as President.

Treasurer’s Report by Barbara Roller. (deferred Barbara not in attendance.) 

Looking forward:  We plan to have an education program in late March-early April and then again in September.  The Mass Committee on Suicide Prevention is very interested in presenting to us.  They have come up with a handbook for assisting Companies recognize the signs and symptoms on potential suicide and resources to assist to get the person help.

We would like to make the presentation of the Audrey Braithwaite award at this time.  Maria Gabriel, last year’s recipient presented the award to Maureen Franzoni

Now, Susan Macdonald is here to do the education portion of meeting tonight.  Susan is the Infection Control Practitioner for Newton Wellesley Hospital.  She is a graduate of Suffolk University  with a BS in Chemistry, followed by her MPH from Simmons College.  She is here tonight to inform us of the difference between hospital and community acquired MRSA and what impact that has on our practice.  Thank you Susan!
